Our current exhibition, Land and Form, features some of Canada's preeminent painters and photographers. We invited Edward Burtynsky and John Hartman to discuss the ways in which photography is informed by painting and painting is informed by photography in a talk moderated by Ian Brown. Listen to the talk by clicking the play button below, and scroll through to see installation views, action shots, and sneak peeks into the private collections of both artists.

"I am curious about the places I paint and about their history. In 2001 I began to search for historical photographic images of Georgian Bay and Newfoundland. To my delight I discovered that the settlement of these places, and much of Canada as well, was recorded in photographs from the 1860’s onward. I began to collect these vintage photos somewhat obsessively, then very obsessively."- John Hartman
