Mara Korkola, No Place 219, 2009
Mara Korkola’s new paintings continue her no place theme, where she paints everyday views in extended series. The recent paintings of High Park in Toronto come from a sense of familiarity (Korkola and her dog have walked in that park daily for over 13 years) that allows her the freedom to use colour, line and composition to explore the visual essence of a place.
