Mara Korkola’s latest show marks a return to her earlier use of multi-panel paintings to evoke a sense of time passing. Based on her walks through parks and along the Bruce Trail in Ontario, Korkola captures not just the scenery but also an intimate experience of place, where the the thrill of discovery connects with a deeper sense of ourselves. Growing up in Northern Ontario, the sense of awe she has always felt when in nature is evident in the emotional quality and rich painterly expression of these paintings.
