The Path features new works by three artists, all painters that explore the notion of moving through a landscape. They invite the viewer in, with an aerial vantage point or carefully placed details that continuously lead us around their compositions.
Moses Salihou focuses on capturing fleeting gatherings in Grange Park which is adjacent to his Toronto studio. John Hartman is attracted to the specific characteristics of islands including Newfoundland, Greece and Bermuda. Steve Driscoll positions the viewer in the trees or on the water in his northern Canadian landscapes, immersing us in his characteristically vibrant colour palette.
These landscapes are not passive but rather elicit our participation as we visually navigate them.
