On Tuesday, July 14th Ann MacIntosh Duff turns 95 years old. To celebrate this milestone, and Duff's prolific artistic career, Nicholas Metivier Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of her works both in our West gallery and online.
Duff specializes in the medium of watercolour, painting landscapes and still lifes from memory rather than observation. This exhibition of her works celebrates the iconic landscape of Georgian Bay.
"I love Ann’s paintings made at Scotch Pine Island, her summer home since 1937. It is a small island with a wood frame cottage facing west to the open water of Georgian Bay and a boathouse/studio at the east side of the island, at the edge of a quiet bay. Life is basic at the cottage, off the grid. The slow pace of daily life let Ann spend much of each day thinking about her next watercolour."
