Conversations will focus on landscape, a subject at the core of both artists’ iconic practices. New releases by Burtynsky from across the globe, including the Coast Mountains in British Columbia and the Hoh Rainforest in Washington State, will be placed in context with luminous new Platinum-Palladium prints by Salgado.
Their respective practices have evolved over several decades and while Burtynsky has embraced the most innovative in digital technologies, Salgado works exclusively in black and white, preferring early printing techniques. The platinum palladium technique is known for its beautiful aesthetic and archival properties. While their chosen photographic mediums diverge, both artists aspire to attain the most remarkable surface detail and tonal range as possible. They are works that must be viewed in person to appreciate their dimensional and tactile qualities.
